It’s been a while since I last posted and I would like to give you some updates and hopefully some freebies for taking the time to visit the site. For all you know, I live in the Philippines and its pretty rough out here when everything starts at zero once again. For almost a week our house was submerge under flood waters. Lost many days of work, no internet, no electricity, no food and water and the cleanup just got started.

It’s a wonderful experience, not a good one but still… This only gives us more reason to go on. Whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

Enough with the sentiments and on to business… Lately, I’ve been losing a lot of customers because I can’t show samples for minisite designs. Even though I have a lot of landing pages to show, clients tend to look for the minisite designs. Its not that bad. But the thing is, I don’t have any… What I mean by that is, I can’t show some of them due to disclosure agreement. So my plan was to ramp up some minisite designs templates to show to the clients.

I’m now offering (aside from landing page designs):

- Custom Minisite designs
- Custom ecover graphics ( DVD, Box covers, CD graphics etc)

Does Landing Page Design Affect Slaps?

June 3rd, 2009 | Posted in Blog, Tips | 2 Comments

I have been receiving a lot of emails lately about slaps and landing page designs. Some people think that landing page design have a great effect whether you page will pass quality score and slaps. I think many people are misinformed by the fact that landing page design is not entirely affecting slaps or quality score.

We know for a fact that manual reviews are being done to every site. Affiliate sites, review sites and even established sites. These are the things that we have no control. If the person from google looked at your site and see something that is not really a legit site. They can easily ban you from the search engines in just one click. Well I guess there is some effect if you think about it. If you have a great and well designed landing page, the chance of that manual reviewer getting your site nuked is null.

But think about the mechanical part. Google is just a machine. It feeds on content. It doesn’t see if your site design is good or bad. Just feed it content and it will give you a good quality score. The misconception is that, if you have a well designed landing page, you won’t get banned ever. This is wrong… If you have good content on your site. You won’t get banned. Google slaps and quality score is affected by content and organic SEO algorithms. If you have quality content and your site is optimized for organic SEO, your landing page will have great quality score and will never be slapped.

Now that I said that,

What’s the use of having a well designed landing page?

You might be asking, if content what drives a landing page to not get slapped and receive a high quality score, what the hell is the use of having a well designed landing page?

Well my friend, the same reason why you want to make money… It’s for the conversion. Well designed landing pages should know how to stimulate emotions, capture the visitors eyes and with good copy, make the sale. On the web, people just scan pages. If they see something interesting, that’s the time they will read. Do you get what I mean? The word “SEE”. If you show them a professional, clean looking site that expresses legitimacy, sincerity and all other things that can make a sale, it is all a by product of what good design is all about.

Landing Page Design is NOT EQUAL to Google Slaps / Quality Score but is EQUAL to CONVERSION.

6 Tips to Improve Your Landing Page Design

You’ve often heard internet gurus talk about the importance of a list. How many times have you encountered the statement “the money is in the list”? If you frequent the World Wide Web, you’ve surely read about this all the time!

There’s no escaping it. If you’re serious in making money from internet marketing, it is a must that you know how to design landing page effectively. In case you are still not aware of what a landing page is, it is a simple page designed to get the names and email addresses of your readers. A landing page is also called a “squeeze page” or a “lead capture page” in some internet circles.

More about Landing Pages

A landing page is a very useful tool in list building. If you really want to capture your readers’ contact information, you must never rely on some obscure opt-in form in your site’s sidebar. A landing page is the only way to go.

A landing page has only one goal – to convert the visitor into a buyer or subscriber. As such, your landing page design must be constructed in such a way that it will convert your visitors into paying customers. You should provide your readers with just enough information to increase your conversion ratio and avoid unnecessary distractions at all costs. Your landing page must do its job well!

All effective landing pages consists of an opt-in form or sales prompt, an introduction, a picture of the owner and his signature, and a call to action.

Improve your Landing Page’s Conversion Rate

They key word here is “conversion”. You want your landing pages to convert your visitors into paying customers. If this can’t be achieved, then your landing page is basically useless.

The average internet user hates filling out forms, providing their personal information for fear of being spammed, buying products and/or services from the internet for fear of being scammed, and reading a lot of information. That’s why the typical conversion rate only ranges from 1% to 6%. It’s really quite low, right?

These are the major hurdles that you need to face in designing your landing pages. So, how do you go about it? Here are some tips that you might find helpful:

1. Research, research, research. Create a mental picture of who your ideal readers are and try to learn what he or she is looking for. Keep him/her in mind as you design your landing pages. Design the pages especially for your ideal audience, and exclude everyone else. Don’t go for the shotgun approach and target a lot of different audience. You’ll only fail if you do so.

2. Go for the jugular. Sweet and simple, in most cases, does it. As you now know, internet users basically hate to read so go straight to the point. Give your readers a quick answer to their questions. Be transparent and avoid flowery expressions. Put an emphasis on the product’s (or service’s) features in a clear and concise language and you’ll be on the right path.

3. Keep important things above the fold. The virtual fold is the most important area in any web page. This is the part that is displayed in your computer screen before you need to scroll. As a general rule, put enough information above the fold to hold your audience’s attention and make him/her decide to continue exploring your site. This is also where your first big, bold “Buy Now” button should be!

4. Use tasteful design elements to your advantage. A professionally-designed layout can spell the difference between your visitors’ decision to purchase your product or not. So, use smart layouts and big fonts to your advantage. And avoid unnecessary clutter such as outside links and navigation. You clearly don’t want to lose that prospective buyer, do you? By all means, keep him on that page!

5. Write compelling copy. Nothing beats good content to make that elusive sale. So, write a killer copy (remember to keep it sweet and simple), display the delivery options and costs, and make sure that you don’t have any typographical mistakes. That will be a disaster!

6. Back it up! Testimonials go a long, long way. They can help you improve your conversion rate significantly so use it to your advantage! Also put visible customer service options so that your prospective buyers will have more confidence in the product or service you are offering.

There you have it – some simple tips that can improve your landing page design and conversion rates. Try them and see what difference they make!

Always Test Your Landing Page

April 8th, 2009 | Posted in Blog, Tips | No Comments
Tags: , ,

In internet marketing, landing pages are your tools of the trade to keep the money rolling. Whatever you show your visitors can and may affect their emotions to your advantage. It is only safe to say that different kind of tools or landing pages may lead to different results.

Landing pages are not one hit wonders. Like in every aspect of marketing, testing is where you will need to put a lot of effort and a lot of time. Even the smallest of changes can lead to varying results.

Always have different variations of your landing page when you start out your campaign (5 at max). It may be different colors or totally different layout. It can save you money to know first hand and early what kind of landing pages will convert on the type of traffic you are attracting. If you are on a budget there are a lot of landing page templates out there.

Then spend all your energy making that high converting landing page work to its maximum. Milk it dry.

One misconception of internet marketers is that, its not always the landing ctr that counts. Its about conversions. Think cash flow first then profitability.

Whats A Good Landing Page Like?

March 24th, 2009 | Posted in Blog, Tips | No Comments

A good landing page will always contain the following elements.

  • Stunning Visuals that triggers emotion
  • Good Copy
  • Call to action

Texts vs Images

Is the written content more impotent than the visuals?

Its a balance of the page that makes the best performance. Copy is definitely important, but not long paragraphs. You really want to use bullets and then “call out” important sentences in larger text.

For visuals, the important thing is to lead the users eyeballs to the focal point of the page. If you have a lead form, you want to visually move the users eyes across the page to see that form.

If you need to explain the service or product in a long copy form, then it is okay to scroll. but you want to visually lead the user down the page and then at the end of the page have a place for them to complete your success action.

Stunning Visuals that triggers emotion

Sex sells. If you can put a beautiful woman in your landing page without coming of as trying too hard, its good. People that uses the internet most of the time just scans a page, if they find or look at something interesting, that’s the time they will read. Now, that is where your good copywriting comes in. It should seal the deal.

Good Copy

A good copy is a copy that arouses any type of emotion. Either the time constraint or lust or something that the customer will think that he will save or get something beneficial from it. Always write with the customers in mind and trigger those emotions.

Call to Action

This is where you get the $’s :). A call to action is the act of commanding or urging the customer to make an action at the end of your copy.
